Romance Review: Wickedly Dangerous (Baba Yaga #1) by Deborah Blake
Known as the
wicked witch of Russian fairy tales, Baba Yaga is not one woman, but
rather a title carried by a chosen few. They keep the balance of nature
and guard the borders of our world, but don’t make the mistake of
crossing one of them…
Older than she looks and powerful
beyond measure, Barbara Yager no longer has much in common with the
mortal life she left behind long ago. Posing as an herbalist and
researcher, she travels the country with her faithful (mostly)
dragon-turned-dog in an enchanted Airstream, fulfilling her duties as a
Baba Yaga and avoiding any possibility of human attachment.
But
when she is summoned to find a missing child, Barbara suddenly finds
herself caught up in a web of deceit and an unexpected attraction to the
charming but frustrating Sheriff Liam McClellan.
Now, as Barbara
fights both human enemies and Otherworld creatures to save the lives of
three innocent children, she discovers that her most difficult battle
may be with her own heart.

I live in a 120 year old farmhouse in upstate NY with five cats, and run an artists' cooperative shop when I'm not writing.
Russian folklore brought to life before your very eyes, Wickedly Dangerous is a sharp, exciting and unique fantasy. It's full of magic, strong characters, clever humor, heart pounding adventure, mystery and a touch of romance. From beginning to end, it's one wild ride that I want to share with every one!
For the sake of trying not to give too much away, this book has so much going for it. It's got a wonderful plot, a beautifully created setting, and very well developed characters. The author has introduced readers to an addictive new world with an unbelievable heroine. Baba is strong, confident and smart - the perfect heroine for such a brilliant story!
I loved it. I loved everything about it. My only disappointment came at the very end when I had to close the book and now must wait to find out what's in store in book number two.
Rating: 5 stars
I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All conclusions reached are my own.
