Romance Review: The Sweetheart Secret (Sweetheart Sisters #3) by Shirley Jump

The Sweetheart Sisters are ready for some good ol’ matchmaking…

Colton Harper, Rescue Bay’s resident physician, gave up his wild ways years ago, in exchange for a straight and narrow life. But then a one-night stand comes back to haunt him when the intoxicating woman he left behind shows up in Rescue Bay.

Once upon a time, fiery Daisy Barton was Colt’s wife—and still is, thanks to a paperwork glitch. Now she’s here in Rescue Bay, with a once-in-a-lifetime chance at a fresh start—renovating a crumbling B&B. The catch? The loan she needs requires her husband’s financial backing.

Colt wants to turn Daisy away, but when he sees her coax a smile from his cantankerous grandfather, Colt realizes maybe she can help him, too. It’s the perfect arrangement—until the sparks start flying. Suddenly Colt realizes he’s still head over heels in love with Daisy, and that he’ll have to risk everything…or risk losing her forever.

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Shirley Jump spends her days writing romance and women’s fiction to feed her shoe addiction and avoid cleaning the toilets. She cleverly finds writing time by feeding her kids junk food, allowing them to dress in the clothes they find on the floor and encouraging the dogs to double as vacuum cleaners.

Look for her Sweet and Savory Romance series, including the USA Today bestselling book, THE BRIDE WORE CHOCOLATE, on Amazon and Nook, and the debut of her Sweetheart Sisters series for Berkley, starting with THE SWEETHEART BARGAIN and continuing with THE SWEETHEART RULES (out in April 2014).

I fell in love with Rescue Bay from the get-go.  This little beach town with all of it's quaintness is such a perfect setting for a romance.  Especially one that's full of second chances.  Daisy and Colt fell in love years before in the midst of a summer fling.  They eloped and had a gloriously happy marriage for three weeks - when Colt disappeared and left.  Now, years later, Daisy is back in town trying to restart the bed and breakfast where she and Colt fell in love.  The only problem?  She can't get the financial backing she needs without Colt's signature.  And why does she need his signature, you might ask?  Because he never did sign the paperwork to finalize their divorce.  Now, stuck in this small town with her former flame, Daisy is faced with a choice... hold on to her scorn or learn to forgive and forget.

Daisy and Colt were a wonderful couple.  Their past created quite the hurtful scenario in the present, but being around one another again reminded them of why they fell in love in the first place.  This is a very sweet, very emotional story where two deserving people are given a second chance to live their happily ever after.  It's beautiful and I loved being able to witness their journey.

I also loved the supporting cast of characters.  Emma, Earl, Major Pain, Greta, Harold... they all have their own unique personality to add to the story, deepening the tie that the book has on the reader.  They keep you engaged and add a little bit of humor to a very emotional situation.

I very much enjoyed this addition to the Sweetheart Sisters series, and I hope everyone else does too.  It truly was worth the read.

Rating:  4.5 stars

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.  All conclusions reached are my own.
