Cozy Mystery Blog Tour: Author Guest Post, Review & Giveaway: As Gouda as Dead (Cheese Shop Mystery #6) by Avery Aames

Someone is cheesed off . . .

Providence, Ohio, is celebrating Valentine’s Day with weeklong events, including lovers’ baskets with heart-shaped cheeses at Fromagerie Bessette. Charlotte Bessette is celebrating by finally walking down the aisle with the man of her dreams, handsome artisanal cheese farmer, Jordan Pace. But when a beloved bar owner is discovered murdered on Jordan’s farm, he believes they should reschedule their wedding given the grim turn of events.

Charlotte is heartsick over the postponement. This killer crossed the wrong woman. No one, but no one, is ruining her wedding plans!

How To Get it All Done without Losing your Mind!
FIVE Tips from…
Daryl Wood Gerber aka Avery Aames
Author of The Cookbook Nook Mysteries & The Cheese Shop Mysteries

Are you doing too much? Do you need to find balance? I overdo. All the time. I write, I cook, I have a family, I have an active dog that requires a lot of attention! I try to do it all “perfectly” every day, and often I find I have to collapse in a puddle of tears. Okay, that might be a little dramatic, but I definitely slump into a chair (no tears).

Now, I’m not a therapist, but here are a few tips I’ve added to my coping toolbox. I hope they can be of help to you:

#1 Breathe. This is vital. Repeat as necessary.
#2 Make a list. Cross off items as they are accomplished. Add new ones. Seeing things in black and white helps calm the brain.

#3 When choosing between items on your to-do list, limit yourself to a top 5. Those absolutely MUST get done today. Everything else can wait. The world will not explode.

#4 Walk. No, that doesn’t mean you have to get on a treadmill and go at top speed for an hour. Take ten minutes and walk around the block, around your house, up and down a set of stairs, in the garden. Then give your body a pat on the back for taking you through the day. [If you can’t walk because, well, you know, ailments, time constraints or other impediments, consider doing something with your arms. Raise light barbells, a brick of cheese, or boxes of cookies over your head twenty times. Anything to make your heart work. Remember to tell your body thank you at the end.]

#5 Be thankful. You’re above ground. You’re still breathing (if you followed tip #1). There are possibilities as long as we have the will to live. Thanking those who help you on your journey as well as thanking yourself for being there through thick and thin is important.

Last tip: Say cheese! It makes you smile. If you can, take a moment and taste a morsel of something yummy and say mmmm.

“Life is great; cheese makes it better.”

Avery Aames, author of A Cheese Shop Mystery for Berkley Prime Crime, is the pseudonym for Daryl Wood Gerber. Daryl created the format for the popular sitcom, "Out of this World" and has won awards for her screenplays. She also writes short stories and suspense novels. Not one to simply read and cook, she tends to look for adventure. She has hitchhiked around Ireland by herself and she has jumped out of a perfectly good airplane.

The Cheese Shop Mystery series continues to be a go-to when it comes to cozies.  With it's picturesque setting and a town where romance fills the air, it's hard to see why anyone wouldn't want to get lost in these books!

Charlotte and her beau, Jordan, are a perfect combination.  Throughout the series, their relationship has bloomed tremendously, and I was thrilled to see them finally taking that last step toward forever.  Of course, it wouldn't be a cozy without a little mishap thrown in there to delay them!

The mystery itself is clever, as always. It takes you in one direction and just when you think you've got it figured out, it shoots off in a completely different one and leaves you in awe of how the chain of events transpired.  Simply brilliant writing.

I've been a fan of this series from the get go and these books just keep getting better. I can't wait to see what's in store for the Cheese Shop Mysteries in the future!
