Romance Blog Tour & Review: One Last Kiss by Susan Ward

Linda is on a mission to find her father. Her journey to locate the gifted musician who abandoned her before she was born takes her through the steamy and drug fueled world of the LA music scene where she is rapidly climbing the ranks as a prime groupie sought after by the brilliant and talented men of rock music.

Jackson Parker is a living music legend from the ‘60s. But hard living, the death of his wife, private tragedies, and a personal life in shambles sends him on a downward spiral into despair.

On a lonely night on a Santa Barbara beach the last thing either expects is to find the one person they absolutely need to make their lives complete. Will Linda’s chance meeting with a drunken Jackson change both their lives forever?

Together these two broken and desperate souls collide in a passionate affair that is impossible for either of them resist. Together they each find the solace they need: a man searching for peace and a girl searching for closure. One thing is certain, their chance meeting has kicked off an affair without end.

I've written 26 books in 25 years.  I write contemporary romance novels about messed up rich girls with perfect looking lives and naughty little souls and the hot mercurial men they take captive... and on occasion messed up rich girls from exciting periods in US and British history, and the poor Lords and Pirates they hold under their spell.

This is a very powerful, passionate romance between two very broken, desperate souls.  It's one of those stories that's deeply emotional and touching - one that connects you deeply to the characters.  The lives that Jack and Linda led to bring them to one another were not without hiccups and obstacles that they both had to go above and beyond to overcome.  And when their paths collide, it creates a beautiful story of love and understanding.

The author has gifted the reader with two characters that are so flawed and so raw.  But in each other, they find solace, and it makes their pairing ignite with eroticism and passion.  There's a desperation in their need for one another, and it makes for a wonderful (and a little sad) romance.

The plot of the story is sad.  But it feels real.  It isn't one of those lets make everyone feel all tingly inside stories.  It's a true to life kind of experience that pulls at your heart strings and submerges you completely in to the story.  It isn't just a book.  No, it's an emotional ride.  And it's one that you'll definitely want to take.

Rating: 5 stars

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.  All conclusions reached are my own.

I am so thrilled to be a part of the Fairy Tale Magic Blog Hop, hosted by Anna at Herding Cats & Burning Soup!  If you're like me, you grew up reading and watching fairy tales.  From Cinderella to Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast to The Little Mermaid, they were staples in every little girl's childhood, and continue to be today.

But then there are some of the lesser known fairy tales... like The Swan Princess.  If you've never seen the movie or read the children's book, it's quite a story!  For those who aren't familiar with it, let me recap for you.

Based off of Tchaikovsky's ballet, Swan Lake, this beautiful story begins with a King betrothing his daughter to the prince of a Queen in another kingdom.  As children, Odette and Derek are forced to spend time together, and once they reach adulthood, Derek proclaims his desire to marry Odette because of her beauty.  Odette denies him, and while traveling home, she and her father, the King, are attacked by Rothbart, an evil sorcerer who wants to rule in the King's place.  He kills the king and kidnaps Odette.  He then curses her and turns her in to a swan.  Her only freedom is at night, under the moonlight, when she's on the lake.  She becomes her human form again until the sun rises.  The curse can only be broken with a vow of everlasting love...

From there, I'm sure you can figure out the events that will lead up to the always important happily ever after :)

It truly is a beautiful story (and an even more beautiful ballet!).  And while it's one of my favorites, I recently stumbled upon a retelling of it, through the brilliance of author Ann Hunter.

Ms. Hunter has taken The Swan Princess and given it a Celtic twist.  In doing so, she has created a remarkable fairy tale that was impossible to put down!  Here is a synopsis of her book:

One vow. One curse. One thousand moons.

While Princess Aowyn's six brothers are favored by their father, Aowyn is the jewel in her mother's crown. When the Queen dies, Aowyn takes a vow to protect her brothers and father from the hungry eyes of the queen's handmaiden, Ciatlllait - who is more than she seems.

In order to save her family, Aowyn risks a dangerous deal with the dark creature Sylas Mortas. But magic comes with a price: and Aowyn soon realizes the one she has paid is too steep.

Only true love can reverse the spell...but it will take one thousand moons.

Set in a Celtic world, "Moonlight" is the story of faith and true love woven through a breathtaking retelling of the classic folktale "The Swan Princess".

This book is amazing!  And I hope that through my stop on this hop, more and more readers will discover just how amazing it truly is :)

Of course... for my stop, I'm giving away an e-book copy of Moonlight by Ann Hunter and a $5 Amazon gift card to one lucky reader!  Just enter the rafflecopter below for your chance to win!
